The Fallas festival is one of the largest and most famous in Spain (yes, along with San Fermin in Pamplona, where the running of the bulls takes place). During the peak days (March 17th-19th) the city is completely changed and large amounts of people cover the streets, taking over the city traffic which is stopped by the large papier-mâché monuments. The smell of powder, the fireworks and the noises on the street are unique and cannot be seen anywhere else in the world.
What you should not miss during your stay at Pi08:
A mascletà. Everyday in March at 14:00h until 19th at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
Plantà. Over 300 monuments are set up in one night with a tight deadline at dusk.
Fireworks. Starting on the 15th everynight by the river bed. Some of the world's finest.
Flower offering. 17th and 18th. Millions of flowers in an endless parade are offered to the virgin.
Street atmosphere. Just walk the city. Enjoy. From 14th to 19th March.
Cremà. If you can stay until the 19th you will see all the fallas burn at midnight.
